A VARIETY of events will be taking place Redditch to celebrate LGBT History Month.

Marked annually throughout February, LGBT History Month recognises the contribution made to society by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Redditch Library will be holding exhibitions and book displays throughout the month and Bailiff Café in Church Road will host a bingo night on Wednesday, February 10 at 7pm, a cinema night with drinks and meal on Thursday, February 18 at 6pm and a quiz night on February 24 at 6.30pm.

In partnership with the event, the Redditch LGBT group are launching their LGB&T support services booklet, containing information on the services and advice available for all members and their families.

The event will conclude with an art exhibition and event at the Palace Theatre on Friday, March 4.

Council leader Bill Hartnett said: "I am really pleased that Redditch is once again involved in the LGBT celebrations and I hope they will continue for many years to come. I am particularly looking forward to the finale event being held at the Palace Theatre.

"As a council we are always keen to recognise all sections of our community and the contributions they make, so I am really pleased that we are part of the celebrations."

This is the fifth year in a row Redditch Council have worked in partnership many of the town’s organisations to offer a programme of events to mark the occasion.
