TALENTED youngsters from the Palace Youth Theatre have starred in a three part documentary on BBC4.

‘A Very British Romance’ hosted by Historian Lucy Worsley, was aired in October and explored the history of romance to uncover the forces shaping the very British ideology of happily ever after.

The series aimed to prove how ideologies, thoughts and feelings regarding love have been affected by social, political and cultural ideas.

The third and final part of the series was filmed at the Black Country Museum and involved five past and present members of the Palace Youth Theatre.

Phillippa McComish, Georgia Neath, Hanna Blazak, Rosie Hodgetts and Jordan Laight were recruited after the group was approached by the show’s producer looking for girls around 18-years-old to play students in a 1920s classroom.

Hanna Blazak said: “Filming only lasted about an hour and a half and the scenes were very short but it was interesting to learn more about the filming process.

"Most of the girls doing the filming were ex-Palace Youth Theatre members so it was nice to be able to share the experience with people who I’ve practically grown up with. It’s nice to know that even though I’ve gone away to university, I will always be part of the family.”

Lizzi Tabberer, from the Palace Youth Theatre, said: “We are so proud of the girls who took part in the documentary and of all our students. We work with an extremely talented bunch of young people and there are opportunities out there for everyone."

The final episode of the series is still available to view on iPlayer.
