STAMP-collecting enthusiasts are being invited to join Redditch Philatelic Society as they stage a special fair and exhibition later this month.

The event, at St Benedict's Catholic High School in Kinwarton Road, Alcester, will see some of the UK’s top stamp dealers selling a wide range of memorabilia.

A selection of stamps, picture postcards and accessories as well as food and drinks will be available all day and a number of specialist societies plan to hold meetings at the fair including: the Great Britain Philatelic Society, the Scandinavia Philatelic Society and the Midland (GB) Postal History Society.

Special activities are being put on by Stamp Active, voluntary organisation which promotes stamp collecting for young people, and a special postcard showing the early postmarks of Alcester and district has been published by the society for sale at 50p.

The fair is being held on Saturday, October 17 from 10am in conjunction with the Midland Philatelic Federation. Entries to the federation's competitions will be on display, and during the fair the winners will be announced and awarded certificates and trophies.

Free parking is available. For more information visit www.redditch-philatelic.org.uk or by calling 01789 765385.

The society, which is due to celebrate its 45th anniversary, holds regular meetings at 8pm on the first and third Thursday each month, from September to June, at St Luke’s Memorial Hall.
