AN Astwood bank resident is being joined by fellow villagers and embarking on a 20 mile charity walk in aid of Cancer Research UK and in memory of a 'fantastic sister'.
The walk, involving Alan Rumble and friends, will take place on Saturday, September 5, and is a circular route departing from the traffic lights in Astwood Bank via Henley in Arden and Ullenhall.
The event has been supported by local businesses and widely advertised throughout the village.
The walk is being held in memory of Mr Rumble's sister Sue Prowse who sadly passed away last December.
He said: “Last December my life was turned upside down with the loss of my fantastic sister. I made a promise to myself, that when the time was right I would try and raise as much money as I could in her memory in aid of Cancer Research UK.
"The time is now here and a challenge has been set.”
The walk itself has been organised by Dave Perks a local man along with help from other residents of Astwood Bank.
The group has been training hard for the event and hopes to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.
To date, a sum in the region of £500 has been raised for Cancer Research UK and anyone who wishes to add their support can make a donation at justgiving.com/walkforsue.
