A REDDITCH DJ who started out in his bedroom now gets to play to millions of people, via BBC Radio 1.

Chris Hunt, who performs under the name DJ First Born, will be doing a set for the Charlie Sloth show on BBC Radio 1xtra this Friday evening.

It is not the first time the DJ, who has performed all over the world and with star names such as DJ Jazzy Jeff and Grandmaster Flash, has been asked to play for the station.

Chris, who grew up in Winyates and went to Arrow Vale High School, started learning to DJ in 1999 then after a lot of practice and building a reputation turned professional in 2009.

As well as performing in exotic locations such as Zurich, Switzerland and Spain he also organises his own events in Redditch including a monthly urban night called Kriss and another which runs quarterly called T.H.1.N.K.

He said: "I'm looking forward to hearing my name on national radio again. It's always a pleasure to be asked to showcase my talents for one of the biggest broadcasting organisations in the world.

"It's things like this that make all them years of practising in my bedroom worth it."

He added: "I'm mainly known as a hip hop DJ as that is what I love but I play all music as long as its good. I don't specialise in any one genre, I specialise in making people dance."

Chris will be on the show this Friday, July 31 from 6pm to 7pm.
