A REDDITCH woman has raised more than £1,700 for charity after completing a gruelling Olympic Triathlon.

Helen Tuite, from Church Hill North, took part in the triathlon, comprising a one mile swim, a 24 mile bike ride, and a six mile run, earlier this month raising cash for the MS Society.

Ms Tuite's father, Jim, suffered with MS for more than 40 years, and was looked after all of that time by his wife Norah.

She said: "Seeing what my dad went through, I just wanted to do something that would help people with MS in a practical way."

The money will be used to fund a new physio exercise class for local MS sufferers.

Antoinette Fisher, chairman of the local MS Society, said "We are so grateful to Helen for doing this. As well as trying to raise money for research to find a cure for this terrible disease, we also try to help MS sufferers in their every day lives."
