A REDDITCH woman died as a result of an accident a Worcestershire coroner has ruled.

Maureen Edna Sutor, aged 73, of Rangeworthy Close was eating beef stew at her home address when she choked and vomited up a piece of meat with some blood.

She attended the Alexandra Hospital where a small tear in her throat was diagnosed and she was discharged.

On November 7 2014, Mrs Sutor became significantly unwell and was readmitted. An oesophageal rupture, a tear in the passageway from the throat to the stomach, was identified and a stent placed.

Mrs Sutor later deteriorated and died in the hospital on November 11 2014.

The medical cause of death recorded was spontaneous oesophagus rupture due to retching following a food obstruction and intrathoracic sepsis, a lung infection.

The inquest opened on November 18 2014 and closed on Tuesday, June 30.
