ONE thousand jobs were created in Worcestershire in 2014 to 2015 due to overseas investment - a massive 500 per cent increase on the previous year's results.

The figures released by UK Trade and Investment show Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership was the third highest performing partnership nationally, creating 1,062 jobs in total and safeguarding a further 30 through foreign investment.

Success stories included growth in advanced manufacturing thanks to firms such Rockline in Redditch, one of the largest global producers of consumer products specialising in wet wipes and coffee filters.

Gary Woodman, executive director of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “The level of investment seen and the number of jobs created are good news for the economy.

"We continue to work with public and private sector partner organisations to raise the profile of the county regionally, nationally and internationally to attract investment in Worcestershire from within the UK and abroad.

“We all have a role in continuing to raise the profile of the county and businesses can be involved by promoting their own successes, as well as how Worcestershire is a world class place to work, invest and do business.”
