A STREET in Redditch was sealed off by police on Monday following reports of a bomb scare.

Police swooped on Winslow Close in Winyates, at about 10am after receiving a 999 call.

Several police cars attended after the call expressed concern for the safety of an individual in the house.

Reports on social media claimed there was somebody inside the house armed with a gun and a bomb, but these remain unconfirmed.

A police spokesman said they are dealing with an ongoing incident after concerns for the safety of an individual in Winslow Close.

"Police were called at approximately 10am on Monday, May 25 and officers were in attendance at the scene," she said.

"An investigation is underway and there is not thought to be any wider threat to the public."
