THE Guide Dogs charity is delighted to be teaming up with Redditch Municipal Golf Club as part of the club's fundraising ventures.

Guide Dogs has a fantastic local team of volunteers at Redditch and Bromsgrove's fundraising branch who will be working closely with the club taking along their dogs and trade stand to events.

Guide Dogs community fundraiser Alison Waterer said: "It is great that we get support from local business and clubs as Guide Dogs receive no Government funding and the cost of each dog from birth to retirement is £50,000.

"Guide Dogs really do change lives, not just for guide dog owners giving them independence and freedom of movement like everyone else, but also for volunteers and their families.

"It is amazing what a difference that bond between humans and dogs can make. I really hope we get a good number of people taking part in the golf club events and if the club raise’s £5,000 over the year it will enable them to name a guide dog puppy."

One of the fundraising events at the club will be an 18 hole charity golf day which will take place on Saturday, September 12 at a cost of £100 for a team of four.

There are prizes for beat the pro, nearest the pin, and a putting competition. Plus if one of the participants gets a hole in one on hole nine, they could win a car. There are also holidays and golf clubs to win if participants get a hole in one on six other par three holes.

A prize giving and raffle will be held at the end of the day and the list of prizes will be advertised at the golf club. To find out more or book in a team contact The Greens on 01527 546063..

Other events planned include Halloween fancy dress on 31st October 31, disco and a karaoke night on November 20.
