A PUB at the heart of the Redditch community has opened its doors under new management.

The Sportsmans Arms in Peakman Street, has welcomed Tim Piper and Bert Hart as its new landlords.

The popular public house, located near Redditch Town Centre, was previously managed by Louise Mason who has now moved on to run another pub.

Mr Hart has more than 20 years experience managing pubs but the venture will be a brand new experience for Mr Piper.

The duo aims take pub back into the olden days with traditional sports including darts on offer to drinkers.

Mr Piper said: “We are trying to bring the pub back to its former self, when it was Redditch’s finest drinking establishment.

“We would like all our friends, family and everybody else in the town to join us, in this friendly, enjoyable pub to makes our dreams and visions come true. All are welcome, let’s make it happen.”

The pub is well-known in the community for the time money was saved up for a group trip to watch England v Northern Ireland at Wembley.

But the excitement was spoiled after they arrived at Wembley to find it empty as the match was being held in Belfast.
