THERE will be glad rags galore at a care home in Redditch, as residents and staff welcome people to a vintage "time for a tea dance" tea party.

The event, fundraising for Dementia UK, is at Brambles Care Home on Wednesday, March 4.

Between 10.30am and 11.30am people are invited to the Birchfield Road care home to enjoy a tea party, and between 3pm and 4pm, toes will be tapping to live music from across the decades.

Staff will be dressed from top to toe in their fabulous 1950s finery, with polka dot dresses and neckerchiefs galore.

There will be vintage crockery and bunting – plus an abundance of mouth-watering cakes in return for a donation to the charity.

The event is Dementia UK’s annual fundraising event; a national day which brings people together over a cuppa to raise money for the provision of Admiral Nurses, specialist dementia nurses who provide care, advice and support to the loved ones of people living with dementia.

Amy Cudmore, from Dementia UK, said: “There are currently 140 Admiral Nurses in the UK to support families living with the effects of dementia, which simply isn’t enough. Dementia UK is striving to increase the number of Admiral Nurses by 50 per cent, by the end of 2016, to support the growing number of families affected by dementia.”
