AS the countdown to the general election begins Rebecca Blake, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate, has spoken out about what a Labour government would do.

The Redditch councillor kicked off 100 days until the election with a team of local supporters as well as a visit from MP Caroline Flint, Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

Ms Blake said: “It’s my job to lay out what the Labour Party stands for and I relish the opportunity to do that over the next 100 days.

“Whether its nurses leaving the NHS because they are being pushed to breaking point or for the increasing numbers of people across our town having to use food banks, I know this constituency will be better off with a Labour government."

Among the things discussed during the visit, on Saturday, was carers.

Ms Blake added: "We should not have people in need of home care having carers who can only spend 15 minutes with them. It’s no good for carers and no good for the person who needs care and it’s a false economy to think it saves money.

"Labour will invest in 5,000 home care workers, without further borrowing, to reduce the number of people needing A&E and help tackle the chaos hospitals are facing."

MP Caroline Flint told Labour supporters that over the next 100 days the party will be spelling out that not all parties are not all the same.
