A NEW film, which is being created and filmed in Redditch, has already attracted a number of star names from film and television.

The Snarling, a comedy/horror, sees a small village pub and some of its locals become involved with a zombie horror movie that is being shot in their village... but something else is happening, something that is not in the script.

It has Joel Beckett from Eastenders and The Office fame, Chris Simmons from Casualty, and Julie Peasgood from Emmerdale on board.

Written and directed by Pablo Raybould, and shot by independent and local film makers, it is hoped that once complete it will be released in cinemas.

Mr Raybould said: "As Midland actors we were compelled to have the film shot here and not outside the area because we feel strongly about the area losing its identity and heritage within the business.

"At one time there were many Midland based productions but now everything is moving more towards Manchester and Cardiff. "

He added: "Everything is in place, ready to begin filming in the next couple of months and we have launched a crowd funding campaign to help raise some extra funding to afford us better equipment and facilities to make it as good as it deserves to be.

"This is going to bring some excitement to the area."
