BROMSGROVE and Redditch residents are being thanked for their support of an annual fundraising campaign.

This year the Primrose Hospice's Lights of Love and Tree of Lights campaigns have helped raise more than £30,000.

The appeal sees names of loved ones who are no longer with us, displayed around campaign trees, with a light dedicated to them hung on the trees.

In return, families make a donation to the St Godwald's Road-based hospice, to enable them to continue to offer a wide range of clinical and support services to those living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Lindsey Higgins, the hospice's fundraising manager, said: "A huge thank you from all at Primrose to those individuals and businesses, either by making a donation in memory of a loved one, or by helping us with the planning and delivery of the event.

"The campaign was particularly successful.

"There was plenty of additional activity over the Christmas period - businesses raffled our hampers, schools held carol concerts, donations were made in lieu of Christmas cards and people took part in our santa dash and zumba. Thank you for all of your help and support."

Lindsey added the figure would not have been raised without the generosity of the local community and volunteers.
