HEADLESS Cross Community Orchard will be holding its fourth annual Wassail event on Saturday, January 10.

Noisy revellers can join the procession at The Rocklands Social Club at 7pm followed by the short walk to Headless Cross Green.

Orchard volunteer Gabby Hemming said: "Wassail is an ancient custom that brings family, friends and neighbours together to pass on wishes of good health.

"It is a loud and lively event to awaken the trees and scare off unwanted spirits. So remember to bring pots and pans to bang, whistles to blow and horns to honk, as a right racket is required to help celebrate the good apple harvest and to ensure a fruitful crop next year."

Headless Cross Orchard has been planted with local varieties of apple, pear and plum trees. With care, attention and regular Wassails hopefully it will ensure healthy fruiting trees which will benefit the local community.

The Wassail will be led by Bromsgrove’s town crier, Kevin Ward, and this year’s Wassail Queen is Olivia Rose.

The Arrow Valley Brass Band will play to accompany the Wassail songs with cider being served to keep revellers refreshed.

People who want to print off and colour their own Wassail poster can to the Headless Cross Community Orchard website headlessxorchard.org.uk
