REDDITCH'S MP Karen Lumley has visited a gymnastics academy.

Worcestershire Gymnastics Academy, in Stockwood, was founded in 2000 by Jill Coathup with just four boys.

In 2013, Andy Hall Elite Gymnastics Coach and Olympic trainer took over as head coach and it has grown from strength to strength, training around 200 gymnasts.

An award of £50,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund, helped pay for improvement works.

On Saturday, (November 22), Mrs Lumley visited the facility and saw the improvements.

“It was fantastic to visit the academy and see first-hand the excellent facilities we have right on our doorstep," the MP said.

"The academy does some great work in the community particularly with young people. It is important that we get young people active from an early age and show them the importance of a healthy lifestyle.”
