A TIMBER roof truss manufacturer established just two years ago has invested in a brand new facility, creating 12 jobs.

Scotts Timber Engineering (STE) has gone from strength to strength since it was founded with the support of established family firm, Scotts of Thrapston, a leading supplier of joinery and timber engineering products.

Richard Evans, managing director of STE, says the popularity of timber in construction has led to a significant increase in output in the past 12 to 18 months and the rapid growth of the business.

The new manufacturing facility will ensure the company can continue to prosper in the years to come.

“Many housebuilders and construction firms are enjoying the benefits of timber in construction and since day one we have been busy with orders," he said.

“In the last 12 months alone, construction output in private housing has seen double digit growth, and our rapid reaction times, commitment to customer service and high quality products has allowed us to benefit from this surge."

The new premises, which will be up and running early next year, will be based at Washford Industrial Estate on Heming Road and will see the integration of specialist timber manufacturing machinery such as table presses and computer driven truss systems.

10 manufacturing jobs have been created together with an additional designer and trainee designer to cater for the company’s growth.

Mr Evans added: “This site of the new facility is over two acres in size with the factory covering 15,000 square feet, meaning the company can continue to grow as our order book grows and capacity can be quickly stepped up as the need arises."
