TO celebrate Carers Rights Day residents are being invited to a special event in the main hall of The Ecumenical Centre.

The event, organised by Carers Careline, will offer information and advice, making carers aware of their rights, letting carers know where to get help and support and raising awareness of the needs of carers.

There will be representatives from Age UK, Care and Repair (home improvement), Redditch Job Centre and Harrison Clark Rickerbys (power of attorney advice).

A spokesman from the charity said: "Big legal changes in the Care Act 2014 are coming into force in April 2015. The Care Act represents the most significant reform of care and support in more than 60 years, putting people and their carers in control of their care and support.

"For the first time the Act will put a limit on the amount anyone will have to pay towards the cost of their care."

She added: "Having the right information at the right time can make a huge difference when you look after someone."

The event, on Thursday, November 27, is free to enter and refreshments are available.

It runs from 10am to 2pm.
