"UNTIL new homes can be found for some of the rescued cats, our branch cannot take in any more," is the stark message from the RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch.

The branch, which serves Redditch and Bromsgrove, has been inundated with unwanted cats and is full to bursting point.

Currently there are 36 cats in the private cattery the branch uses.

Geraldine Haynes, of the branch, said: "We've got big problems again with the number of cats we've got and needing to come in.

"No cats are reserved, so it's very difficult and we're at the point where we can't take any more in."

One of the cats is Humbug, a black and white cat aged between two and five-years-old.

When Humbug came into the care of the charity in April he was in a terrible state and so stressed he was pulling his own fur out.

Mrs Haynes said: "Humbug is lovely now, and has come on leaps and bounds. We can't understand why no one has adopted him."

Mimi and Tootsie are 10-month-old sisters who also need loving new homes. They came into the branch from a multi-cat household.

Mrs Haynes said: "We would want them to go together as they rely on each other so much. They have had a rough start to life and it wouldn't be fair to split them up.

"They are still anxious and would not be suitable in a home with young children."

Many of the cats seeking homes can be seen on the local branch website at rspca-worcester.co.uk.

Call Pamela on 01905 841354 or Geraldine on 01886 822083 if you feel you could offer one of the rescued cats a permanent home.

All cats are neutered or spayed, vaccinated and microchipped before being rehomed.

There will be a cat rehoming day for the branch at Teme Acre Cattery, Old Road, Old Powick Bridge, St John’s, Worcester this Sunday, October 19 from 11.30am to 2pm.
