TO help mark the official opening of the new B&M Homestore and Garden Centre two very deserving members of the community had the chance to be a VIP for the morning.
The opening was held on Saturday and Robert and Maggie Underwood from Redditch Heart Safe were there to officially open it.
The store, on the Abbey Retail Park, put out a call for a local hero, someone who makes life better for people in the area, works hard for a particular cause or is renowned for their charity work.
The couple, who work tirelessly to fundraise, sadly lost their daughter Charlotte in 2010 aged just 16 to a heart related condition.
After that they set up a local group to raise money for life saving defibrillators. These units are then installed in schools and community centres - most Redditch schools now have a defibrillator and trained staff thanks to the couple.
Tragically, they lost son Craig,17, last December, almost three years to the day they lost their daughter, also to a heart related condition.
A spokesman from the store said: "We had been inundated with entries but there was one clear winner - Redditch Heart Safe. Husband and wife team, Robert and Maggie Underwood received the most nominations."
