ST Bede’s Catholic Middle School celebrated the European Day of Languages on Friday, September 26.

For the occasion, nearly 100 students manned a table representing a country from which they either originated from or they liked, with some dressing up in in national dress.

They displayed items from all around the world, including children’s fairy tales in Polish, children’s books in Iranian and comic books in Frenc

Some students prepared or bought food. Staff and students tasted specialities from Albania, Jamaica, Germany, Poland, Spain, India, Grenada and many more.

Students also prepared some activities to help people discover more about the various countries, and quizzes and word searches were also available.

The foreign countries extravaganza finished with a Tai Kwon Do demonstration from the year 7 boys who were representing Korea.

A spokesman said: "This first European Day of Languages proved to be very popular and a real success. We are all looking forward to September 2015."
