PHOTOGRAPHY enthusiasts are invited to take part in a competition to win a host of valuable prizes being organised by St Leonard’s Church, Beoley – and have the chance to feature in the annual calendar.

Entrants to the competition, which runs until the end of December, are asked to submit a photograph of the church or grounds throughout the seasons in four categories – open, adult, children under 12, and young people aged 13-18 years.

There are a wide range of subjects which can be covered, including unusual angles of the church building itself or the grounds, flora or fauna, and the famous Sheldon tombs inside the church. There is no limit to the number of entries permitted within each category.

The prizes are £100 for the open category, a year’s subscription to Digital SLR Photography magazine for the adult category, and digital cameras for both children and young people’s categories.

The shortlisted photographs will be displayed at St Leonard’s annual Snowdrop Festival in February 2015, when the winning and commended entries will be announced.

Joyce Bush, who is organising the competition, said: “St Leonard’s has long been recognised as a very pretty and interesting church and we wanted to encourage people to capture its various qualities in a photograph.

"We thought it would be great fun therefore to run the competition and we hope that it will attract a large number of entries."

Entries need to be 7 x 5 mounted, and submitted with the entry form – with a £2 fee for adult categories only.
