A BALLOON race, as well as other fundraising activities, has helped Woodfield Academy raise almost £2,000.

The event, raising cash for various school projects including the start of building an outdoor activity course, included a number of stalls, games and competitions.

For the balloon race tickets were sold to people. Each ticket was then attached to a gas filled balloon which was released into the atmosphere.

The owner of the balloon which travelled the furthest was lucky winner.

Rachel Badlan, who organised the race, was expecting the furthest balloon to come down in maybe Leamington Spa.

However, to her amazement she received word that one of the balloons had reached Trondheim in Norway - more than 1,000 miles away.

That balloon belonged to Year 5 pupil Ruby Sheldon, who won a 42" Panasonic Smart Television.
