A CHARITY which supports people with learning difficulties recently celebrated a very special milestone.

Where Next Association, which helps more than 100 people every year, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special event.

The charity was formed in 1984 to provide work experience and training to people with difficulties and since then it has grown to become a respected provider of products and services to the people of Redditch, as well as the surrounding areas.

Mayor of Redditch, Councillor Pat Witherspoon, opened the proceedings which were attended by hundreds of people including supporters, and staff and assistants, past and present.

Several members of the original group who started the charity were also present.

There were photographic displays of the highlights of the history of Where Next, video displays made by current assistants, many examples of the products made or grown, and demonstrations of some of the activities in the new Where Next hub.

And, of course there was time to chat and renew old friendships over a cup of tea and a birthday muffin.

Graham Clark, general manager, said it was a great day and everyone had a wonderful time.

"The people of Redditch can be proud of their support for the pioneering work of Where Next Association, which has been much copied throughout the country," he said.
