CHURCHES in Studley are joining together to offer an evening of prayer for healing but instead of being in a church, they are holding it at the Barley Mow Pub on Sunday, September 28.

Lots of pubs now have a psychic evening and the Studley Churches want to offer a free Christian alternative for people who would like prayer for healing in their life or for a loved one they may be worried about.

Studley Church history is linked closely with the Barley Mow pub. Firstly, Methodist founder, John Wesley, stayed there twice and secondly, it was where local Catholics met to discuss building a church in the village. The Christians of Studley want to reach out to people in a comfortable, non-threatening environment, hence holding the event in a pub.

They will have two 'prayer chairs' where people can ask for prayer for any reason. This will be accompanied by the 'laying on of hands', an ancient practice, asking for God's healing. There will people available, if people want to talk but you don't have to tell anyone why you need prayer. No-one will be under any pressure and will be very informal. The evening will run from 8.30pm until 10pm.
