THE headteacher of Trinity High School said she was delighted with the school's English and maths results, with both at 80 per cent A*-C for the third consecutive year.

Marian Barton said: "Given that the goalposts changed after half time in late September 2013 about what would and wouldn’t count in the performance tables, we are absolutely thrilled with once again achieving 70 per cent five A*-C, including English and maths.

"Vocational courses now only count as one qualification with a maximum of two in the tables.  Many schools will have seen a huge variation in their results this year but we congratulate all our students and staff on their hard work."

And there was plenty of cause for celebration at Woodrush High School as the hard work from puils, and support from parents and teachers, paid off.

This year nearly 75 per cent of students gained five or more A*-C grades, with 77 per cent gaining A*-C grades in maths and 72 per cent in English and overall, nearly a third of all students gained top A*/A grades.

Headteacher Chris King said: "Once again congratulations to all our students for their successes and we look forward to them starting their A-level courses at Woodrush 6th form this September.

"We are delighted with all our students’ hard work and their achievements, and must thank the support of our staff and parents and carers for ensuring that our students, whatever their starting point or ability, gained good grades."
