A REDDITCH man punched a fellow party guest and then swung the branch of a tree at him, a court has been told.
22-year-old Ellis Field, of High Trees Close, Oakenshaw, admitted assaulting Joshua Harris-James.
He had denied affray between December 30 2012 and January 2 2013 and that allegation has been dropped following his guilty plea to the assault causing actual bodily harm.
Judge Michael Cullum adjourned sentencing at Worcester Crown Court until September 17.
Lee Masters, defending, said Field had been a guest at a party, where an argument flared outside.
There was a scuffle and Field accepted he struck Mr Harris-James.
He also picked up a branch and swung it recklessly, said Mr Masters.
