THIS photo shows Redditch Fire Brigade prior to the First World War, outside its headquarters in Park Road.
This was the only fire cover Redditch had during the Great War.
Members of the crew not only fought fires in the town but also combined their duties as funeral directors for the people of Redditch. Some members of the Huntley/Bough families are in the photo.
We would like to thank Huntley's Funeral Services for supplying this photo
More information regarding the history of Redditch Fire brigade can be seen at an exhibition remembering the Great War which takes place at St Philip's Church in Webheath from August 4-9.
This will include main fire stations and sub stations also the role Redditch brigade played during the Second World War, including the Auxiliary Fire Service.
