FAMILIES at Abbeywod First School have just celebrated their first graduation from a programme called FAST (Families and Schools Together).
The project aims to develop and strengthen relationships within families, between families, between families, and school and the local community.
FAST is an eight week project running for two and a half hours a week where families take part in a range of activities, including special play between a parent and a child and also the sharing of a meal where a family cooked for all the other families
The programme is based on a coaching approach where the FAST team, comprising school, community and parent partners, support empowering parents.
The graduation ceremony took place last week and special guests including Redditch Mayor, Councillor Pat Witherspoon and head teachers from local middle and high schools.
Deena Frost, deputy head of Abbeywod, said: "We are very proud of our families and hope relationships they have built throughout FAST will continus to blossom."
