ANYONE who is feeling inspired by the Tour De France and fancies dusting off their old bike is invited to join a free and fun ride with Sustrans trained volunteer ride leaders, for a safe and friendly experience.

Every second Saturday, a group of keen riders, off all ages and abilities, get together at Arrow Valley Visitor Centre in Redditch at 10am and take a leisurely ride around park paths and quiet local roads.

One of the trained leaders, Roger Bartlett, said: “We are not a club, there is no commitment to come regularly and there is no cost. Just come along with your bike and enjoy sharing the experience of riding locally with others, who will offer support if and when you need it.”

Mr Bartlett added that all ages are welcome, but that anyone under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.

Cycling with a group promotes confidence and can hopefully lead to the rediscovery of a childhood pleasure. Rides are taken at the pace of the slowest rider, take no more than a couple of hours and all include a refreshment break, so people should bring a drink and snack or cash for a local cafe.
