Carers Careline afternoon tea for Redditch new town anniversary
6:10pm Tuesday 1st July 2014 in Local
ONE of the 50 events being held as part of the So Redditch Festival celebrating 50 years of Redditch new town is a 1960s afternoon tea event being hosted by Carers Careline.
Anyone is welcome to join the event for 1960s music, quiz and cakes and there will also be a raffle.
Entrance is £1.50, free to registered carers, and is being held in the main hall of the Ecumenical Centre on Thursday , July 10 from 2pm to 4pm.
Carers Careline have been supporting informal and unpaid carers in Redditch who are over the age of 18 for the last 26 years by offering information and advice, signposting, training, social groups, events and activities, telephone support, drop-in, counselling and bereavement support. Many carers do not realise that this is the role they have taken on as they are often caring for a family member or loved one and feel that it is their duty to look after them. Another common problem can be the feeling of isolation, of being the only one in that position, of not knowing who to ask for help.
Carers were taken to Weston Super Mare last month, have a meal planned at The Greens in August and their next trip is to Blenheim Palace in September. Any support given relies on funding and at present this is partly provided by The Big Lottery Fund, Redditch Council and trusts.
