REDDITCH Heart Safe has thanked 1066 MCC biking club for holding a rock night and memorial ride to raise funds to be able to donate a defibrillator to the TAGB Tae Kwon Do club in memory of Craig Prentice Underwood, aged 17, who died last year.

Redditch Heart Safe was initially set up by Craig's parents Robert and Maggie in memory of his sister Charlotte, who died aged 16 from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS).

The couple said: "As the public are aware, with their help of donations we have been able to place lots of defibrillators in schools and community buildings but this one was very special to us.

"Not only is it the first one placed in Craig's memory but it involved three of his loves. The first being the biking community who not only helped out with his final journey but also raised the funds for the defibrillator, the second is his Tae Kwon Do club which he was very passionate about, the third is another defibrillator being installed.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support as without everyone's donations none of this would be possible, we are fighting for every beat as every young heart matters."

Matt Lennard from TAGB said: "I cannot thank everybody who kindly donated towards the purchase of the defibrillator for our club enough.

"After the tragic loss of Craig, a great friend and student, heart related problems have been at the forefront of both mine and my students' minds.

"Craig used to bring his own defibrillator into training every week, and I will now get to keep this memory fresh in my mind, as I have the honour of taking over this task."
