NORTH East Worcestershire College is opening its doors to the public for its annual family fun day.

Running simultaneously across the Bromsgrove and Redditch campuses, the free event will take place on Saturday, May 17 from 11am to 3pm.

It will feature a host of activities reflecting the wide range of courses taught there and provide the opportunity for members of the public to tour the facilities both campuses boast.

NEW College principal John Callaghan said: “Our intention with this event is to bring our local community together and showcase our facilities and the talents of our staff and students.

"With upwards of 1,000 visitors, last year’s family fun day was an enormous success, and we were delighted with the positive feedback received. I'm hoping this year we can make the event even better.”

Both sites will feature bouncy castles, face painting, barbecues and recreational courses for all the family, as well as offering a range of activities and demonstrations specific to the subject areas taught at each campus.

This year sees the launch of a ‘Community Zone’ with local charities, including Bromsgrove Carnival, Mentor Link, Libby-Mae’s Little Angels and Primrose Hospice, coming together to share and promote the work they are doing throughout Worcestershire.

At the Bromsgrove Campus, the event will showcase the new £3.5 million arts and technology facilities, giving guests a chance to print a t-shirt, try their hand at presenting the news and take part in theatrical workshops in Artrix, the arts centre co-owned by NEW College.

The Harley-Davidson University will be opening it’s doors to visitors, NEW Beginnings Nursery will be offering one hour’s stay-and play, and big kids (young and old) can also get involved in the go-kart challenges running throughout the day.

The Redditch campus will feature activities from departments including construction, hospitality, hair and beauty, public services and sports. Visitors will be able to have a go at everything from cake decorating to bricklaying.
