APPROXIMATELY 100 cannabis plants were seized by West Mercia Police officers during two unrelated incidents at Redditch over the weekend.

Police went to a flat at Kemerton House, Cherry Tree Walk, just before 8am on Saturday, April 26 after Redditch Council reported that there was water leaking from it into the flat below.

Officers found and seized 71 cannabis plants along with associated growing equipment in two rooms. Police inquiries are continuing in relation to the discovery.

A further 16 cannabis plants in various stages of growth were seized after they were found in a garden at Garway Close at about midnight on Sunday, April 27 after officers responded to a report of a disturbance there.

A 38-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault and cultivating cannabis. He remains in custody where he is being questioned by detectives from Redditch.
