BUDDING young actors, singers and dancers are invited to the next open afternoon for the Palace Youth Theatre (PYT) at the end of April to find out what it’s all about.

On Saturday, April 26 between noon and 1.30pm, young people with an interest in the theatre can come along and take part in workshops, meet current staff and members, preview some of their work and ask any questions they have about joining the group.

There are four different strands to the PYT which aim to cater for the needs of young people across the borough. Rise and Shine is for five-eight year olds, core caters for six-16 year olds, Edge is for ages 16-18 year olds and Aim includes 16-25 year olds with learning disabilities.

Lizzi Sifford, youth theatre and arts officer for the council, said: “We also have some great summer workshops coming up for eight-18 year olds and 16-25 year olds, so if you’re interested in any aspect of the theatre or know someone who might be, please come along to our open afternoon to find out about all the fun stuff we do.”

Refreshments, including cake, will be available to buy during the open afternoon.
Previously, PYT have put on shows and workshops including The Wizard of Oz, Alloy Jungle in conjunction with CircusMASH, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Odyssey 2.
