THERE is a rare chance to see a much praised Oscar winner at Feckenham’s Community Cinema this Friday.

The FeckenOdeon’s volunteers have been working with the British Film Institute to arrange a special showing of 2014’s winner in the Best Film in a Foreign Language category.

The film, The Great Beauty, has also gathered a fine collection of more than 100 other awards including BAFTAs and Golden Globes.

The film sees an ageing writer, never one to do things by halves, looking back on his life. His memories return in a torrent - parties, love affairs, triumphs, disasters.

A glorious riotous celebration of life set against the beauty of Rome it was universally hailed by critics and public as the most invigorating film of the decade.

A spokesman said: "This will be the only showing in this area and the society is proud to have been able to obtain it so soon after the awards."

The Great Beauty is showing this Friday, April 11 at 8pm at The FeckenOdeon Cinema at Feckenham Village Hall.

Tickets at £5 are on sale at The Village Shop and The Rose & Crown in Feckenham and can also be booked by phone on 0333 666 3366 or online at feckenodeon.co.uk.
