FUN-loving families can test their sense of direction at a free orienteering taster session at Arrow Valley Park this weekend using the newly installed permanent orienteering posts.

Harlequins Orienteering Club, in partnership with Redditch Council, will be holding the event on Saturday, March 29 between noon and 3pm. As well as the new orienteering course for all the family, a new family art trail has also been created for younger family members to enjoy.

Orienteering provides the opportunity for families to get outdoors and enjoy finding their way around a set course using a map. Orienteers can walk, jog or run the course and it is suitable for individuals, partners and families.

Jackie Boreham, parks and green space recreation officer, said: “For children in particular this event will promote self-reliance and independent decision-making, as well as getting them out into the fresh air to burn off some energy.

“This taster session is perfect for all age ranges and is a great recreational activity to get involved in and just one of the many events we will be holding in our parks this summer.”
