OUNGSTERS have the chance to make a beautiful hand-made gift for Mother's Day at Studley Garden Centre on Saturday, March 29.

The Henley Road-based centre is holding a fun Mother’s Day primrose potting event from 11am until 3pm.

Youngsters of all ages are invited to go along to the garden centre and pot three pretty primroses into a basket for their mums.  They can also make their own gift card to take home, making a touching Mothering Sunday gift that will be remembered for years to come.

The Mother’s Day basket and gift card costs £4 per child, which includes a donation of 50p to Garden Re-Leaf Day. Tickets for the event will be available from the tills on the day.

Garden Re-Leaf Day’s nominated charity for 2014 is the Greenfingers Rosy Cheeks Appeal which aims to raise £750,000 over two years to fund the creation of at least 10 unique children’s hospice gardens - giving more families the gift of spending precious time together outdoors, away from the bedside.

As well as the Mother's Day gift activity, youngsters can also enjoy themselves on the free bouncy castle in the play area.

Studley Garden Centre CEO Boyd Douglas Davies said:  “Children will really enjoy getting hands-on and making their own very special Mother’s Day gift. This weekend is also a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together, and the ideal moment for gardeners to plan what they need for the weeks ahead now that spring is here."
