TWO people were arrested when a drugs warrant was executed in Redditch.

A large quantity of what is believed to be heroin and crack cocaine were recovered from a property in Fownhope Close, Winyates, on Wednesday, February 26, together with a large quantity of cash, after police obtained a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A man and a woman, both in their 40s, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and released on police bail until Friday, May 30, pending further inquiries.

Detective Sergeant Laura Wright of West Mercia Police said: “We are very pleased that as a result of this operation, a large quantity of Class A drugs have been taken off the streets.

“Drugs, and in particular drug dealing, are a concern for residents from many of our communities, and we are committed to doing all we can to tackle these issues.

“Drugs cause tremendous harm in terms of increased crime and antisocial behaviour, as well as blighting the lives of users, and their family and friends.

“Disrupting the activities of drug dealers is a high priority for us and by working together we will make our communities safer places.

“The public can play their part by passing on information about those involved in drugs by either contacting us directly on the non-emergency number 101, or by giving details anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“We take all reports seriously, investigate them thoroughly and if appropriate act on the information provided.”
