ON Friday, March 21 at 11am, the health club team at The Abbey Hotel Golf & Spa will be put to the test by flipping tractor tyres the distance of a marathon in aid of Sport Relief.

That's a distance of 26.2 miles which is further than the distance to the Abbey's sister hotel the Lea Marston.

Members of staff from The Abbey and Lea Marston Hotel will be taking it in turns of two to flip 50 kilogram tractor tyres.

The challenge is open to spectators and volunteers who want to help the team reach their marathon goal, which it is estimated will be at least five hours.

The team is training hard to make sure its raises as much money as possible for Sport Relief; the charity which helps people living unimaginably tough lives both in the UK and around the world.

Members of the public are encouraged to come and support the team at the Abbey Hotel and cheer on those brave enough to take on this exhausting challenge.

To shoe their support, people can sign up at the health club on call the team on  01527 406525.

Matthew Outs, leisure assistant manager, said: “The whole team is highly motivated and looking forward to this challenge. They have all been working hard both with training and getting the word out to raise money for Sport Relief. We would like to challenge other groups and hotels to do something similar for the distance of a marathon – let’s kick start a marathon charity challenge."
