A Redditch man has been banned from a local area and received other restrictions on his behaviour under a 12-month court injunction.

An anti-social behaviour injunction was granted by District Judge Khan at Worcester County Court against Stuart Whiteman Caswell, aged 34, of Winyates, in his absence on Wednesday, December 11 following an application by Redditch Council.

The injunction carries the power of arrest and prohibits Mr Caswell from threatening, assaulting or otherwise interfering with a resident, or entering a defined area of Winyates bordered by Alders Drive, Warwick Highway, Winyates Way and Woodcote Close.

The court heard that Mr Caswell’s behaviour had resulted in a string of anti-social behaviour reports and recent convictions including for assault and criminal damage.

The council worked with West Mercia Police to compile evidence in the case.

The council's anti-social behaviour manager, Liz Bellaby, said: “The council sought this injunction to protect specific people from harm as well as to help address some wider issues of anti-social behaviour within a particular community.

“Residents should know that where it is necessary to protect the community, the council will pursue this type of action.”
