7:20am Tuesday 22nd October 2013 in Local
WORCESTERSHIRE County Council is undertaking resurfacing works on three Redditch traffic islands this month.
The council will be carrying out resurfacing works on the A441 Alvechurch Highway to resurface the Riverside roundabout adjacent to the Abbey Trading Centre (Sainsbury’s) and the Abbey Stadium.
The work is expected to take six nights to complete, and started today, Tuesday, October 22. The road will not be closed, but access through the roundabout will be restricted with traffic lights in place and local diversions.
The work will be carried out between 7.30pm and 7am; access will be maintained to the Abbey Trading Centre, Abbey Stadium and other properties accessed from the roundabout, however, it may be limited for short periods.
The roundabout will open for all traffic during the day (7am to 7.30pm).
Markings on the roundabout will be replaced, and this is programmed to be completed by Monday, October 28, and will be done at night.
Following that the B&Q (A441) roundabout, works will commence on Sunday, October 27 from 6pm and then it will be resurfaced in the day time on Monday, October 28. The roundabout and accesses will be closed with a short diversion route in place. Bridge works will then follow for four days with the slip roads open and just the bridge deck closed.
Near the McDonalds roundabout (A441) preparation work will commence on Monday, October 28 from 7.30pm and then resurfaced on Tuesday, October 29 with a short local diversion. Work will involve replacing the anti-skid surface on the A441 on the north exit of the island, though not actually on the island itself. This will be the same time as bridge deck works on the B&Q roundabout, but the diversions will not conflict.
