Bus users in Redditch given a voice thanks to new forum
12:10pm Monday 7th October 2013 in Local
A GROUP of town residents have got on board a new idea to strengthen the voice of Redditch bus users.
Established last month, the Bus Users Forum aims to act as a focus point for members of the public and bus operators to promote a good bus service for the town.
A forum spokesman said: “Everybody wants to see high standards of bus service in Redditch. Our aim is to provide a platform where both rider and provider can express their views. With fewer inspectors on buses, the bus user can be an important source of information for improving services. Whether that's suggestions for new services, re-timing and re-routing existing services, or improvements to the vehicles.
"Not all suggestions from bus-users will be practical but we want to develop a constructive dialogue between passengers and bus operators."
The three main areas of concern raised at the initial meeting of the forum were the lack of evening/night services, the limited Sunday services and the lack of routes to locations like the Alex Hospital.
Representatives from Diamond, the main bus operator in Redditch, attended the first forum meeting and advised that the company is in the process of initiating a network review on its Redditch services.
The public has been asked to provide feedback for this review, which Diamond intends to analyse before reporting its conclusions.
Members of the public are encouraged to provide feedback for the Redditch Network Review using a form available from bus drivers or at www.diamondbuses.com.
The forum spojesman added: “Whilst the forum is not a contact point for complaints, anyone wishing to make positive suggestions to improve the bus services in Redditch can email the forum at email@example.com.
"Any complaints about bus services should be directed to the bus operator."
