REDDITCH Heart Safe has thanked Morrisons in Redditch for its support in letting the charity into the store to raise awareness and much-needed funds for sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS).
The funds raised on Saturday ,August 24 will go towards purchasing another defibrillator which will be placed in Morrisons, giving customers and staff the best chance of survival if anyone was to go into cardiac arrest.
Robert and Maggie Underwood, who founded Redditch Heart Safe following the death of their daughter Charlotte, afed 16, from SADS, said: “We would also like to thank everyone who allowed us to pack their shopping for them and kindly donated to us, totaling £657.25p.
“We can't thank everyone enough for their great support with our campaign to get defibrillators installed across Redditch.
“To everyone that came to help us, your support as always, is very much appreciated. Your are all true life savers.”
The Underwoods said they were also pleased that Redditch MP Karen Lumley attended to show her support and understanding for the importance of defibrillators.
“Karen’s support over the past three years to us as a family has been outstanding with trying to get some kind of legislation to make defibrillators compulsary in every school and workplace, and hope the government will make some kind of decision in the near future.”
