Welcome cash boost for school's breakfast club
7:30am Tuesday 5th March 2013 in Local
EARLY mornings at RSA Academy Arrow Vale are starting with a buzz thanks to the culinary skills of three students who are cooking up a storm to start the school day on a healthy note.
Callum Shill, James Bacciocchi and Bradley Davies all arrive at 7.30am to prepare and serve breakfast at a subsidised rate to other students.
These youngsters contacted Arrow Valley East county councillors Juliet Brunner and Gay Hopkins recently to ask for help sustaining the breakfast club.
The club, open from 7.30-8.30am, is hugely successful and attended by a large number of students.
After visiting and speaking to the students, the councillors were happy to lend their support and gave £1,165 from their divisional funds to the club.
The councillors said they were delighted to be able to support such a great initiative.
Headteacher Guy Shears said: “RSA Academy Arrow Vale is delighted to receive the additional funding to support the existing breakfast club provision for our students.
“This extra funding, combined with the safer schools initiative, will surely enhance the students’ opportunities and experience whilst attending Arrow Vale.
“The importance of this to our vulnerable students cannot be emphasised enough, as a warm welcome and structured support at the start of their day are essential to their achievements and progress.”
