THIS year’s Redditch Winter Ale Festival has been hailed a success.

The festival, at the Rocklands Social Club last weekend, featured more than thirty beers, including Seventh Heaven from the Weatheroak brewery in Studley, alongside a selection of traditional cider and perry.

Run by volunteers of the Redditch and Bromsgrove branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real ale, it was also raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society to provide support for carers and sufferers of dementia.

Committed CAMRA member and Redditch MP Karen Lumley said it was a great success.

“Real Ale is a great British tradition and its continued success depends on grassroots community support at events such as this,” she said.

“The festival is always a very fun and well attended event -  long may that continue.”

Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA chairman Paul Richards said that real ale is becoming increasingly popular.

“Our festival is a great opportunity to try traditional beers and ciders that you wouldn’t normally find in the pub,” he added.
