A GANG of men kicked down the front door of a house occupied by an elderly couple and stole cash and jewellery.

It happened at about 1.30pm Thursday, January 31, in Marsden Road, Smallwood.

The woman was in the kitchen when she heard noises from the lounge.

She was confronted by four men, two of them pushing past her and going upstairs.

She tried to follow them but was pushed back down.

Her husband, in his 60s, was having a bath but heard the commotion and went to investigate.

However, when he tried to get out of the bathroom, the door was pulled shut by one of the offenders.

The other searched the rooms upstairs before they all left via the front door, taking a quantity of cash and Asian jewellery, along with bank cards and passports.

All four offenders are described as white and aged 30 to 40.

An ambulance was called as a precaution as the woman sustained a minor head injury from being pushed, but it is not believed she was seriously hurt.

Detective Constable Claire Johnson of West Mercia Police said: "This was a terrifying incident for the couple, who were extremely shaken and distressed.
