REDDITCH residents have praised a project to improve their homes’ warmth and energy efficiency.
The wide-ranging project for Redditch Council, undertaken by npower Energy Services, has seen more than 100 Reddditch council properties benefitting from a central heating upgrade programme including the installation of new energy efficient condensing boilers and new radiators.
The project is designed to provide sustainable warmth for residents and help reduce carbon emissions, by increasing energy efficiency.
One tenant, retired care worker Mabel Harris, 81, said: “The engineers were so efficient, organised and were a pleasure to have in my home. They did an excellent job installing my new boiler and radiators and I can already feel the improvement this has made to the warmth of my home.”
Chris Wall, npower’s head of field operations, said: “We are delighted with the feedback we have received for the work we have carried out with Redditch Council. We work closely with tenants and local authorities to ensure work causes minimal disruption.
“Projects like this help make a real difference, particularly to the health and wellbeing of the elderly or vulnerable, and it’s great that tenants are already benefiting from the improvement work.”
Stuart Mansfield, gas supervisor at Redditch Council, which looks after 5,800 properties, said: “We are committed to providing warm and comfortable homes for tenants, so we’re delighted that so many are already feeling the benefit of this project.”
And Councillor Mark Shurmer, whose portfolio covers housing, added that climate change was high on the council’s list of priorities so being able to offer tenants a warm, energy efficient home was a double success.
The work began in August as part of a five year programme. For more information on npower, visit npower.com.
