TWO university students are organising a Mad Hatter tea party near Redditch to raise money for the Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove.

Rebecca Crowther and Louise Ketley, who are both studying at Worcester University’s Business School, are organising the event as part of their second year of study in marketing and PR.

The Mad Hatter Tea Party, which will involve magic tricks, a raffle, an auction and a competition for the maddest hat, is also in memory of Ms Crowther’s partner’s mother and one of Ms Ketley’s friends, who passed away in October of last year from ovarian cancer.

Ms Ketley said: “We have both had people in our lives who have had to cope with having cancer. They used the Primrose, who were very helpful to them and couldn't do enough in a time of need.”

The tea party is being organised at Bentley Village Hall on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 7pm, and the students have managed to get several local businesses involved.

Ms Ketley added: “Our favourite part has been designing how the room will look. We came up with lots of ideas and then we'd add more, it was great to see all our ideas pull together and we now know what the finish will look like. We are very dedicated to making this work as we want to give something back to the charity that helped our loved ones.”

Tickets for the event are £10, which includes a non-alcoholic cocktail upon arrival and a buffet. More information will be available closer to the date.
